Thank you Parker Valley Hope!
Thank God for Parker Valley Hope! As I approach my eighth sobriety anniversary, I have been thinking about the wonderful, caring people at PVH
who looked past my anger, and my "kiss my rear" attitude, and loved me when I couldn't love myself. I arrived at PVH in mid December of 1998, after
spending five days in the El Paso County Detox Unit, and another ten days in a Colorado Springs hospital psychiatric ward. The people at the hospital
recommended PVH and I reluctantly agreed to give it a try. Nothing else had worked. It took me a couple of weeks, but I finally let down my "level ten
force field," and started working the steps with Chaplain Jim. By the time I left PVH in the third week of January of 1999, my whole attitude and outlook
had completely changed, and I had experienced a profound and deep spiritual experience. I like to say that God brought me to recovery and recovery brought
me to God. I flew to Miami shortly after my release to visit a sister, who also is in recovery. I have been in South Florida ever since, except for a trip
back to Colorado in 2000 to make some amends. I will be forever grateful to PVH for helping me to find a power greater than myself, and the program of
