Finally the Easier and Softer Way
Finally the Easier and Softer Way: After 33 years of drinking and drugging I finally got it. I have been clean and sober now for two years. My
second trip to Norton Valley Hope was in a police car and left off at the front door. I had just received my second DUI in five days. Is this truly
going to be my rock bottom? Many thoughts are going through my mind after I sobered up the next day. Is my wife going to leave me this time? Are my
children going to tell me they hate me again? Am I in financial ruin? I made a decision that first I had to fix me and hopefully the rest will fall in
place and if not I would just have to take the responsibility for my actions. The first counselor I talked to kept asking me if I am sure I wanted to be
there. I repeately said yes but he kept asking me the same question. Then I saw Ray a stern and sometimes hard counselor and he just whispered to me Jeff
maybe you will just get it this time. I did and I want to share with you how. First I changed step 1 for me to read I BELIEVE I am a alcoholic. Second I got
HONEST with myself. Third I finally SURRENDERED to this disease. Fourth in order to obtain the serenity to succeed I had to ACCEPT the fact that I am a
alcoholic drug addict and this will be a life long endeavor. The rest did follow. I am still married to loving women for 28 years now and my kids tell me
they love me. I have a new job and financial insecurity has left me! Thank You VALLEY HOPE you saved my life and family/ Jeff L.
