Freedom from Bondage
Freedom from Bondage I found that besides the "pre-treatment" bondage of my alcoholism/addiction, there was the post-treatment "bondage" of anxiety/depression produced from fears. How in the world are we supposed to do life without our old dependencies? My sponsor said "Put your left foot in front of your right, keep moving, go to meetings, and things will eventually get better!" Admittedly I didn't believe him for a long time but it was all I had to hang on to. Fast forward 3 years, today I'm found in a circle of AA friends that work to stay sober and happy, and I've found the release from the excessive anxiety/depression. In fact, I describe myself as terminally optimistic! What a great feeling to be released from this bondage and to enjoy life. The brain along with the rest of our bodies does get better with work and time! Thanks Valley Hope and AA for my freedom today! Scott B.
